Clark's first yoga studio opened in December next to Clark Bagels.
While yoga studios seem to be popping up everywhere these days, Clark was still yoga-less until December, when Heads and Tails Yoga opened in the Clarkton Shopping Center next to Clark Bagels. The new studio is run by owner-instructor Kate Hoyos, a Westfield resident who has been practicing yoga for 14 years. Hoyos has taught previously at Garden State Yoga in Bloomfield, Ignite Yoga in Livingston and Hot Yoga Revolution in Garwood. "I have lots of friends in Clark and everyone just seemed to want a yoga studio that was closer," says Hoyos. "When I said I was looking for a location for my studio, they all said, 'You have to come. You have to do yoga in Clark." The trendy new boutique sells secondhand clothes and accessories.
Although Tricia Caminos has just opened the doors on her North Avenue boutique, you'd be hard-pressed to look around it and find anything new. The clothes, shoes, bags and jewelry are secondhand (from Old Navy and Target to BCBG and Armani), the space is a former garage that was a former gas station, the walls are original or reused materials from the renovation, a big old armoire she found on the curb serves as shelving, and even the doors and windows are Craiglist finds. "It's this whole annoyance of waste," says Caminos. "I'd look at something and think, why would you throw that away?" This new shop offers elaborate themed parties for little girls – and big girls, too.
From crafts to cake, Garwood's new Parti-licious does it all so parents don't have to. (They'll even help bring the gifts out to your car.)
