Mayor Bonaccorso Says Clark is Ready for Snowstorm, Asks Residents to Park in Driveways

Clark Police have also issued a Nixle alert asking residents to move their cars off of streets to make way for plows.

Clark Mayor Sal Bonaccorso says the town is fully prepped for the impending snowstorm that will hit the region this afternoon into the weekend. "We are prepared, and I have full confidence in our DPW," Bonaccorso told Patch. "And if we're dealing with more like 12 inches, we'll handle it. We just have to see if there's going to be power outages, trees down, wires down. We've already salted the school areas, and if the rain stops we'll start pre-salting streets." The mayor is asking that all residents move their cars from streets onto their property so that plows can get through, especially on narrower streets. Alert: Winter Storm Warning, Clark and Garwood Schools to Have Early Dismissal on Friday

A winter storm watch is now in effect from 3 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday for our area, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Predicted snow accumulations are 6 to 10 inches. Snow early on Friday is forecast to change to rain during the daylight hours, then back to heavy snow late in the day on Friday and into the evening. A snowfall rate of one to two inches an hour may happen during the heaviest snowfall. Winds of 30 to 40 mph will produce drifts as well. There is also a small chance of a thunderstorm during the storm. Expect temperatures in the 25 to 30 degree range.
