Now Open: Big Mac's BBQ Brings Smoked Southern Style to Clark

Big Mac's offers all kinds of smoked entrees, plus sides and desserts in a family-friendly atmosphere.

"My husband's crazy – he'll smoke anything," says Cathy McIntyre with a laugh. Big Mac's BBQ Pit at 1473 Raritan Road (near Friendly's – look for the big pink pig out front) is the couple's dream restaurant, where Cathy's husband John does just that, putting his years of backyard smoking to good use all week long for paying customers. Big Mac's offers all kinds of smoked entrees from John – pulled pork, pork chops, brisket, ribs, chicken, turkey and even meatloaf – alongside sides and desserts made by Cathy, in a family-friendly atmosphere. They are open for lunch and dinner. All the meats are smoked traditionally, says Cathy, using dry rubs, and everything is made fresh. Interest From Buyers on Long-Vacant A&P Building, Reports Clark BA

Business administrator John Laezza announced the news at the Jan. 22 council meeting.

Clark Business Administrator John Laezza reported that he had good news at council's Jan. 22 meeting: interest from buyers on the vacant former A&P building on Westfield Avenue. "The A&P owner called and he’s going to set up a meeting within the next two weeks," said Laezza. "He thinks we have positive action." Laezza said it has been 12 years that the building has sat vacant. He did not reveal who was interested in the space. Last April, we polled readers on what they'd like to see take over the space. Thirty-two percent voted for "retail," while 30 percent chose "other" and 25 percent chose "another supermarket." I heard Trader Joe's was interested, but they wanted to buy the place and were denied. Would be nice to see something nice there like a restaurant like the Melting Pot. Seems like it would be too small for bowling. Something fun for kids would be good too. Not a Bounce U, but some place kids and go to and enjoy. Or maybe a Dave and Busters so everyone could enjoy it!   more ›
