[PHOTO] Kumpf School Donates to Meghan Rose Bradley Foundation

The Meghan Rose Bradley Foundation was established December 2004 in honor of the memory of Meghan Bradley, who passed away on November 7 after being diagnosed with brain cancer.

This release was provided by the Clark School District.   Teachers and staff at Carl H. Kumpf Middle School in Clark support research for pediatric brain cancer through a donation to the Meghan Rose Bradley Foundation.   The Meghan Rose Bradley Foundation was established December 2004 in honor of the memory of Meghan Bradley, who after being diagnosed with brain cancer on October 1, passed away on November 7th.  For more information about the Meghan Rose Bradley Foundation contact Ileen Bradley at (732) 735-3291 or visit their website at http://meghanrosebradleyfoundation.org/.

Fun and Games After-School Club is a Hit at Kumpf

The club was created to promote student involvement in after school activities.

This release was received from the Clark School District. The  Fun and Games Club is an after school activity organized by teachers Jennifer Bartolomeo and Arielle Wegbreit at Carl H. Kumpf Middle School in Clark. It is a club for students of all ability levels. It is an exciting, interactive environment in which students come together in grades 6, 7, and 8 to share their love for fun and games. The club meets once a week with a varied array of students. While sign-in sheets are provided at every meeting, attendance is not taken to entice members to bring their friends along. Hehnly Teacher Wins NJ School Boards Award

Parlavecchio is one of only eight winners throughout the state.

Hehnly School in Clark, is the recipient of the highly prestigious “Innovations in Special Education” Award through the New Jersey School Boards Association.  Ms. Parlavecchio is one of only eight awardees throughout the entire State of New Jersey. Have You Commited a Random Act of Kindness Lately? Clark Students Have

Students participated in activities organized by Ashley Aligo, Guidance Counselor, to promote kindness throughout the schools, home, and the community.

This release was provided by the Clark School District. During the last week of February, the elementary schools in Clark, NJ celebrated Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) Week. During RAK Week, students participated in many different activities organized by Ashley Aligo, Guidance Counselor, which promoted kindness throughout the schools, home, and the community. As park of the RAK movement in the schools, a Kindness Tree was created and displayed in a prominent location in both Frank K. Hehnly School and Valley Road School. Instead of leaves, the Kindness Tree is covered in Kindness Hearts. A Kindness Heart can be submitted by students, faculty, or staff. School Counselor Speaks at Clark's 'It Takes a Village' Parent Support Group

It Takes a Village provides strategies for parents regarding different issues they may be dealing with, and provides a way for parents to connect.

This release was submitted by the Clark School District. On Wednesday, February 6th, Clark’s parent support group, It Takes a Village, organized by parent Mike Deitze, held their monthly meeting. Parents of children in the elementary schools get together to discuss different issues they are facing with their children, and brainstorm ways they can deal with them. Elementary School Counselor, Ashley Aligo, was the guest speaker. Clark Public Schools Project Child Find

The district will evaluate children in need of special education and related services.

All children, ages three through 21, who reside within the Clark Township School District who are in need of special education and related services, including pupils with disabilities attending nonpublic schools, and highly mobile pupils such as migrant workers’ children and homeless pupils, regardless of the severity of their disabilities, shall be located, identified and evaluated according to N.J.A.C. 6A:14-3.3. Three and four year old children who experience difficulties with speech, behavior, coordination or getting along with others may be eligible for our preschool program.  In addition to the preschool program, the district offers a full continuum of special education …

Tennessee Titans Coach Chet Parlavecchio Visits Clark Schools

Parlavecchio is an NJ native and led Elizabeth High School to a state championship in 2006.

National Football League Coach Chet Parlavecchio of the Tennessee Titans visited the Clark Schools this past week, making stops in Central Office, Arthur L. Johnson High School, and Frank K. Hehnly Elementary School. Parlavecchio is a New Jersey native and a legendary high school football coach where he led the programs in Bloomfield, Clifton, Passaic Valley, Irvington, and Elizabeth for three decades, winning a State Group IV Championship in Elizabeth in 2006.  Two years ago Parlavecchio was offered the job as Special Teams Coach by Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak, his roommate at Penn State in the late 70’s and early 80’s. Kumpf Student Publishes 'My Life With Asperger's'

Gabriella Smith's memoir appeared in MAAP Newsletter, a quarterly newsletter for families of individuals with autism, Asperger syndrome and pervasive developmental disorder.

The following press release was submitted by the Clark School District. Gabriella Smith, a student at Carl H. Kumpf Middle School, was recently published in the MAAP Newsletter, a quarterly newsletter for families of more advanced individuals with Autism, Asperger Syndrome, and Pervasive Developmental Disorder (Volume 3, 2012). Gabby’s memoir, “My Life with Asperger’s” provided a candid glimpse into the life of a sixth grader growing up with Asperger’s. The memoir assignment required students to reflect on six of the most important experiences in their lives.
