The Clark, Garwood and Winfield Girl Scouts held their very own Powder Puff Derby at the Clark Recreational Facility. All the girls who spent countless hours creating their very own wooden cars with their parents were excited to finally race. The first race consisted of Daisy Girl Scouts. The winners were: first place Isabella Scipioni, in second place Julia Kleczynski and coming in third was Kady Rettino. The next race was for the Brownie Girl Scouts. The winners were: first place Madelaine Edmondson, second place Katrina Kowalenko and coming in third Ashley Breien. The third race was for the Junior Girl Scouts. The winners were: first place Gabriella Scipioni, in second place Kaitlyn Monohan and in third place Darby Brown. The final …

Valley Road School in Clark recently saw some improvements made courtesy of first grade Daisy Troop 41407. The girls, together with their families, removed and replaced aged wood from a sign in front of the school. They then added new dirt, mulch, and planted new flowers. The troop will oversee the care of this area by planting new flowers as needed throughout their scouting tenure as an ongoing community service project. The troop would like to extend a special thanks to Stan Zawacki, who pre-cut the border and letters as well as to Schieferstein Farm who discounted the planting supplies.

Daisy Troop 425 and sister Brownie Troop 791 were very excited to visit the Clark Firehouse located on Broadway recently. Deputy Chief Robert Venturella and Firefighter Thomas Campbell demonstrated what a firefighter looks like in full turnout gear when entering a house on fire, so the girls would not be afraid of them. The firefighters also explained how their turnout gear protects them from getting hurt. Firefighters also gave tips on fire prevention and evacuation plans. After the demonstration, the girls were eager to take a tour of a fire truck. Upon leaving the fire department, every scout received a Fire Station Tour patch, a fire detector, fire hat and many other special treats provided by the Clark Fire Department. The girls …
