No injuries were reported.
A blue sedan was T-boned by another vehicle, flipping it over, at the intersection of Westfield Avenue and Raritan Road on Saturday morning. According to Clark Police Chief Alan Scherb, the car was hit hard from the side by another car making a turn, sending it over. Scherb says there were no injuries and those involved went to the hospital as a precaution. The Clark Fire Department, Clark Police Department and Clark Volunteer Emergency Squad were on the scene.

Raritan Road was closed from Schuyler Drive to Featherbed Lane after high winds caused downed wires.
Update: Raritan Road is now fully open and both of these incidents have been cleared. Clark Police have closed off Raritan Road from Schuyler Drive to Featherbed Lane due to downed live wires from this morning's high winds. The wires came down around 11:30 this morning. According to Clark Police Chief Alan Scherb, three wires came down and were sparking. PSEG is on the scene repairing the wires. Further down the road downed wires sparked a utility pole fire on Skyline and Acken Drives around 2 p.m. Scherb says a PSEG crew from the Raritan incident will now be working to repair those wires. The truck became ensnared in the lines while making a turn, according to witnesses.
Around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, a Santos Landscaping dump truck laying mulch at St. Agnes Church in Clark snagged phone wires and tipped over onto its passenger side. Clark Police and Fire and Union County Hazmat teams responded to the scene. The driver was able to exit from the tipped truck with only scratches, according to other Santos employees at the scene. They say the truck had its bed raised as it was making the turn and the bed caught the phone lines and pulled the truck slowly over onto its passenger side, right before a telephone pole. Rain may have caused heavy branches to weigh down the lines.
Lake Avenue reoponed around 5 p.m. after downed power lines in the street caused police to close it off from Oak Ridge Road to Raritan Road near Rotondos Deli at around 4:15 p.m. According to Clark Police Captain Alan Scherb who was on site PSE&G arrived quickly and was able to turn off the power, repair the lines and restore power within the hour. Two Clark fire engines and several officers were at the scene. The closure caused some traffic backups along Raritan Road and Lake Avenue. It is now open. Be the first to know. Daisy Troop 425 and sister Brownie Troop 791 were very excited to visit the Clark Firehouse located on Broadway recently. Deputy Chief Robert Venturella and Firefighter Thomas Campbell demonstrated what a firefighter looks like in full turnout gear when entering a house on fire, so the girls would not be afraid of them. The firefighters also explained how their turnout gear protects them from getting hurt. Firefighters also gave tips on fire prevention and evacuation plans. After the demonstration, the girls were eager to take a tour of a fire truck. Upon leaving the fire department, every scout received a Fire Station Tour patch, a fire detector, fire hat and many other special treats provided by the Clark Fire Department. The girls …

For second day, crews try to fight blaze in massive Newark Avenue warehouse.
Firefighters from many Union County towns continue to help the Elizabeth Fire Department battle a seven-alarm blaze that has been burning for more than 21 hours straight in a landmark Newark Avenue warehouse Wednesday afternoon. From 4:30 a.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday, the fire produced thick black smoke that smelled like melting plastic. At about 6:30, red embers began mingling with the smoke, eventually giving way to streaks of red-orange flames bursting through the smoke pouring from the roof. The fire began at about 4 p.m. Wednesday in the basement of the old Burry Biscuits factory.
