Westfield and Johnson Skate to 6-6 Tie

The Westfield Blue Devils and the Johnson Crusaders played to a 6-6 tie on Tuesday at Warinanco.

On a blustery afternoon at Warinanco Park, the Westfield Blue Devild lost leads of 4-1 in the 1st period and 6-4 in the 3rd and played to a 6-6 tie against a game Johnson Crusader squad. Westfield dominated the early play but it was Johnson scoring first on a breakaway goal by Sal DeMarzo, who would tally four goals in the contest. Westfield responded with successive goals by Jon Macik, Ryan Morse, Dane Huber & Christian Rosa to take a commanding 4-1 Westfield lead, but that cushion was soon erased late in the first when DeMarzo and Mike Cieslak scored bringing the Crusaders within a goal in spite of being outshot 17-6 in the period. The teams traded scores in the second, with Westfield's Rosa scoring off a nice Macik feed for a 5-3 lead. …
