Update: Clark Barnes & Noble Lease Extended Through 2019, Says Spokesperson

The company will close a third of its stores over the next 10 years.

Update, Feb. 15, 2013: Good news, Clark Barnes & Noble fans: After publishing our story yesterday, we now have received a response from Barnes & Noble's media relations department on whether the store will be one of the many stores to be closed in coming years. Yesterday, Patch received the following email from B&N Spokesperson Mary Ellen Keating: "I saw your story and want you to know that we recently signed a long-term lease on the Clark story that extends through 2019," writes Keating. "We love the community and plan to serve customers in Clark for a long time to come. Hope this helps clarify." If the BN closed I'd be upset. I spend the $25 a year to get my discount on coffee with the occasional book every now and then. I personally do not like the kindle and love to have the hard copy book in front of me. Call me old fashioned I guess, but that's how i am. I'd have no use for my discount since i never go to any other BN than the Clark one.   more ›
