ALJ Bowling Team Honored at Clark BOE Meeting

The Crusader Bowling team captured the Group I State Championship this year for the first time in 28 years.

This release was submitted by the Clark School District. The Arthur L. Johnson Bowling Team was honored by the Clark School District’s Board of Education on Tuesday, February 26, 2013.  The Crusader Bowling team captured the Group I State Championship this year for the first time in 28 years. In addition, this year Johnson also won the Watchung Conference, the Union County Championship, and the Group 1 Sectional State Tournament for a “three-peat” performance.  Johnson was also ranked #6 in the Star Ledger’s Top 20 poll. The players and coaches were called up and received certificates celebrating their wonderful achievements. [PHOTO] ALJ Alum Shannon Syciarz Honored at 'Hot Stove League' Dinner

Syciarz was honored for being an outstanding athlete while a field hockey player at ALJ and at The College of New Jersey.

Union County Freeholder Chairman Linda Carter (L) and Freeholders Christopher Hudak (2nd L), Bette Jane Kowalski (3rd R) and Alexander Mirabella (R) congratulate Shannon Syciarz of Garwood on receiving the Joseph R. Lombardi Memorial Award at the Union County Baseball Association’s 77th Annual Hot Stove League Baseball Dinner on February 10 in Mountainside. She was honored for being an outstanding athlete while a field hockey player at Arthur L. Johnson High School in Clark and at The College of New Jersey. ALJ Senior Honored at National Girls and Women in Sports Day

Samantha Rodrigues was nominated by her coach for her accomplishments as an outstanding high school female athlete in both soccer and track and field.

This release was submitted by Clark Athletic Director Gus Kalikas. On January 27, 2013, Samantha Rodrigues, of Arthur L. Johnson High School in Clark, N.J., joined together with over 150 female student-athletes from New Jersey’s high schools, colleges, and universities at Seton Hall University in celebration for National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD).  NGWSD is one of the largest events in the state that recognizes women’s athletics.  Rodrigues was accompanied by her parents, Carlos and Maria Rodrigues, and varsity soccer coach, Meredith Qualshie, at the celebration. MVPs, Student Athlete Honoree Named at ALJ's Spring Athletic Awards

Over 120 varsity athletic letters were handed out throughout the evening.

On Wednesday, May 30, the Arthur L. Johnson Athletic Department held their 2012 Spring Athletic Awards. The evening, sponsored by the Crusader Athletic Booster Club, was held in the Arthur L. Johnson Auditorium. All the Spring Athletic Teams and their seasons were highlighted by their coaches while handing out letters and awards to the student athletes. Over 120 varsity athletic letters were handed out throughout the evening, as participation in athletics at Arthur L. Johnson High School continues to grow. The program continued with the Student Athlete Award, which was presented by the Principal of Arthur L. Johnson High School, Rick Delmonaco.
