Student athletes from a variety of schools throughout the State of New Jersey were recently honored at the 2nd Annual New Jersey High School Awards Dinner on Sunday, January 13, 2013, at the Heldrich Banquet Center, located in New Brunswick. The dinner is sponsored by the Maxwell Football Club. Over sixty years ago, the Robert W. Maxwell Football Club was founded by a group of sports enthusiasts who were also civic minded individuals. Its purpose is to honor local area high school and college football players and teams. [PHOTO] ALJ Holds 16th Annual Alumni Football Dinner

Among the attendees were returning alumni dating back to the school’s inception in 1956.

This release was submitted by the Clark School District. In what is an eagerly anticipated event for the past 16 years on Thanksgiving Eve; the Arthur L. Johnson High School intergenerational Alumni Football Dinner was held in the school cafeteria as it has since 1997. As he has for the past 16 years, dinner organizer Ken Drake served as the master of ceremonies and facilitator for the evening. Drake commenced the evening by introducing the various guests in the form of current and former administrators, athletic directors, and coaches in attendance.  After this, returning alumni dating back to the school’s inception in 1956 stood up and introduced themselves, stating their name and the position they played.  Each of the three head …

PHOTOS: ALJ Wins Annual UNICO Bowl, UNICO Members Participate in Basilone Parade

ALJ football defeated Hillside for the 8th year in a row.

This year's UNICO Bowl brought another win for ALJ football over Hillside - the team's 8th win in a row at the event. Here, photos from the game and photos of UNICO members marching in the John Basilone Parade on Sept. 23 in Raritan. Basilone was a WWll hero who was killed in action. He received the Silver Star, the Purple Heart and the Congressional Medal of Honor.
