Just like you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, don't judge Garwood Library by its small size. The library, a one-story space attached to Lincoln-Franklin School, houses a mighty collection of reference materials; adult and children's fiction and nonfiction; periodicals; DVDs, which are free to borrow; audio books; and more. The space includes four comfy leather seats; table seating for 30 students; and a children's area decorated with a mural of familiar faces, Mother Goose, Curious George, the Velveteen Rabbit and others. Five computers are equipped with Internet access (and is a WiFi hotspot after 3 p.m.), and they allow guests to browse popular databases like EBSCO and Jersey Clicks. The library also participates in JerseyCat, the state's virtual catalog that lets you search more than 600 library collections, which means that if the library doesn't have an item, you can request it from another state library. Garwood Library also accepts patrons from other community libraries if they have a valid library card. Library director Carol A. Lombardo has lived in Garwood for more than 30 years and worked at the library for most of them. She is also a notary public and offers notary services at the library.
