Trunk-or-Treat, Haunted House, Pumpkin Carving Contest Today

What's happening today in Clark and Garwood.

Clark Rec/Clark PBA trunk or treat and haunted house at Robinson Plantation: Clark Recreation together with the Clark PBA will host the 1st Annual Trunk or Treat at ALJ High School in the parking lot on Saturday from 2-5 p.m. Cars will have their trunks open to give out treats to all children – free. Prizes will be given for best, scariest and original costumes. Then at 7 p.m. the Clark Recreation Department will host the 2nd annual Haunted House at the Robinson Plantation – 593 Madison Hill road – for a friendly fright – free apple cider, donuts and pumpkins. The walk-through haunted house has a $5 admission charge. House will be open from 7 to 10 p.m., rain or shine. 

Garwood's second-annual pumpkin carving contest: The Garwood Celebrations Committee will be conducting the Second Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest on Saturday from 4-5 p.m. outside of Lincoln School on Second Avenue. The street will be blocked for this event, which will be going on just prior to the Trick or Trunk event run by the PTA. Residents of all ages will be able to submit a pre-carved or decorated pumpkin for judging. All participants will receive a full size candy bar and have the chance of winning either a first or second place prize for their age group. 
Local author meet and greet at the Clark Library: Authors from NJ, PA, and NY visit the library and sign books. Authors range in all genres from YA to adult. Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m.
Deutscher Club blood drive: On Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. All donors will receive a Continental breakfast or a traditional German lunch. The Blood Center of North Jersey (BCNJ) will again be the collection agency. At this blood drive, the BCNJ is entering every donor into a drawing for the Super Bowl being held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. 

E-cycling at UC Vo-Tech: The County of Union will sponsor a recycling event for electronic equipment on Saturday, so Union County residents can get rid of unwanted computers, televisions and other electronic equipment in an environmentally proper manner. The special E-cycling event will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Union County Vo-Tech campus located at 1776 Raritan Road in Scotch Plains. All residents of Union County are eligible to participate at no cost. There is a limit of six electronic items per car.

Dispose of unused medications: From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Clark Police will accept expired/unused medication at police headquarters.
