Lincoln School Clothing Drive, Networking Events, Special Election This Week

What's happening this week in Clark and Garwood.

Donate to the Lincoln School clothing drive: On Saturday, the Lincoln School in Garwood will be collecting wearable clothing and household linens. Other items accepted will be shoes, backpacks, handbags, belts, stuffed animals and all hard toys no larger than two-feet-by-two-feet. Vintage radio play performed at Garwood Library: The Garwood Public Library will host a live radio version of “Sorry, Wrong Number,” on Tuesday at 7 p.m. This rendition will be presented by the cast of Raconteur Radio Company from Metuchen. Productions are staged around (and amplified by) a standing, fully functioning, art deco "fat boy" microphone with a vintage chrome grill and will feature theatrical lighting, costumes and extensive sound effects. 

Lin's Linens cancer charity fundraiser: Lin's Linens, which performs room makeovers for cancer patients, is hosting "Let's Scare the Hell Out of Cancer" - a Halloween themed fundraiser at the Cranford Elk's Lodge on Saturday from 7 to 11 p.m. Food, cash bar, DJ, dancing and more. 

Special senate election on Wednesday: The battle between Newark mayor Cory Booker (D) and former Bogota mayor Steve Lonegan ends today in the special election to replace the seat left vacant after the passing of Frank Lautenberg. Click here to find your polling place.

Four centuries weekend at Dr. Robinson plantation: Clark's historic site is just one of many stops in the county's annual Four Centuries weekend, Oct. 19 and 20. The event will feature President and Mrs. Lincoln, Civil War soldiers, hearth cooking and more.

Network with the Irish Business Association: 
The IBA is committed to promoting business relationships and personal interaction among Irish-born and Irish-Americans throughout New Jersey. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month. This meeting will be held on Tuesday at Molly Maguire's in Clark from 6 - 8:30 p.m. Cost: members $20; future members $30; first-time guests: free. 

The Screaming Nudes play Hyatt Hills Pub: Cover band The Screaming Nudes are back at Hyatt Hills on Thursday. Check out their rendition of "Talk Dirty to Me" from their last appearance in Clark.

Garwood Knights annual fish fry: The Garwood Knights of Columbus will be holding their semi-annual fish fry at their council hall, on Friday from 6-8 p.m. The dinner, catered by Thistles, will be offering baked fish, as well as the traditional fried fish, French fries, coleslaw, dessert and coffee. Chicken will also be available. Tickets are $13 in advance, $15 at the door; and children under 12 years of age, $10. Takeout available. 

GWACC networking happy hour at Raymour & Flanigan: The Greater Westfield Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a networking event at the Watchung Raymour & Flanigan on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Halloween family storytime at the Clark Library: On Saturday at 10 a.m., put on your Halloween costume and come to the library for storytime. This program is for children ages 2 through 5 years old. No registration is required.
