Events in Clark and Garwood from Jan. 20 - 27, 2014:

Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Schools, municipal offices, and the library are closed in observance of the Monday holiday. 

Clark Council meets: Clark Council meets for their second January meeting at 7:30 p.m. in council chambers above the police station. See the meeting agenda here. Tuesday, 7:30 p.m.

Story time with Miss Mayra: Kids can come, in their PJs if they like, to story time at Barnes & Noble. Tuesday, 7 p.m.

ALJ Flea Market & Collectible Show: Hosted By Clark UNICO this indoor/outdoor event features quality vendors selling merchandise at bargain prices. Held 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the school cafeteria and outdoors weather permitted. Some items for sale handmade jewelry, handbags, collectibles, Scentsy candles, scarves, hair accessories, clothing, antiques, crafts, doll clothes and more. "Beat the Sugar Blues" at the Clark Library: Join Health Coach Claudia Petrilli as she discusses the effects of sugar in your diet. You will learn how to cut down on sugar consumption, curb cravings, discover healthy sugar replacements and more. Saturday, 2 p.m. 

Teen keepsake pillow craft at the Clark Library: Join instructor Kate Conroy as we turn a t-shirt into a keepsake pillow. Learn some basic sewing while you create a one-of-a-kind throw pillow made from one of your favorite t-shirts. If your shirt only has one side, you may bring a second and use two. There is a $5 supply fee for this program. Saturday, 2 p.m.

"Timeline New Jersey" with Walter Choroszewsk at the Clark Library: Join New Jersey author and photographer Walter Choroszewski as we celebrate New Jersey's 350th anniversary. Travel along a timeline from the primeval dawn of the Highlands through the Ice Age up to the present day. Take pride in our Colonial and Revolutionary heritage and celebrate the events and numerous "firsts" that make New Jersey special. Registration is required. Sunday, 2 p.m.
