Johnson Bowling Coach Honored at Westfield Tournament

Not only was Coach Michele Zaleski honored, but the team took first place with a 3370 pin series total.

This release was received from Arthur L. Johnson high school.

Each year the Westfield Tournament directors select a male and female coach to be honored at the start of the tournament.  This year’s female recipient was from Union County, Coach Michele Zaleski from Arthur L. Johnson High School in Clark.

Coach Zaleski earned her Bachelors Degree in Health and Physical Education from East Stroudsburg University where she also showcased her athletic abilities and competed on the softball field.  She has been employed by the Clark Board of Education for 24 years as a physical education/health teacher and she currently teaches in the middle school and has been coaching for the past 20 years.  During her tenure in Clark, she has coached several sports which include tennis, volleyball, and softball.

Coach Zaleski took over the bowling program in 1999 and remained with the team until 2003 when, unfortunately, it was cut from the school’s budget. In 2009, the school board reinstated Johnson’s bowling team and Coach Zaleski came back to guide the team to an impressive series of victories and winning streaks.

  • Since 2009, Coach Zaleski has led her teams to:
  • 3 Conference Titles
  • 3 Union County Titles
  • 3 Sectional State Titles
  • and a Group1 State Championship in 2013

It is safe to say that Saturday was a Johnson day.  Not only was Coach Zaleski honored for all of her efforts but her team took 1st place in the Westfield Tournament with an impressive 3370 pin series total.
