Can You Guess Which ALJ Sports Team Has the Highest GPA?

The winning team in the Athletic Department's first GPA contest had an average GPA of 3.806.

The Arthur L. Johnson Athletic Department held a breakfast in honor of the 2013 Fall Athletics GPA Challenge winners, the girls tennis team, this week.

For the first time this year, the Athletic Department instituted the Crusader GPA Challenge, which was awarded to the team that finished with the highest overall grade point average amongst athletic teams for the fall season. The recipients were presented with certificates, will have their team memorialized on a plaque, and were invited for a “Breakfast with the A.D.” to celebrate their work both in the classrooms and on the courts.

The team had an average GPA of 3.806 and includes students Kara Alongi, Kristen Camillo, Keylyn Vargas, Julia Villari, Magda Mickiewicz, Gabriella Parracho, Natalie Perla, Kelly Vena, Ciara Feeley, Natalie Palmiere, Stefani Scalia, Dariya Lizanets, Marta Mickiewicz and Tabitha Starita.

“The Athletic Department is extremely proud of all the members of the girls tennis team," said Supervisor of Athletics, Health, and Physical Education, Gus Kalikas. "The team was able to balance athletics and academics at the highest level, not only competing in the State Tournament in the fall but also excelling in the classroom, which is evident by the cumulative GPA of 3.806 that the tennis team held throughout the season. They are a model of what it means to be a student athlete and the Clark School District is proud of all of their accomplishments.”
