All-NJ Elite Girls Play North Carolina in Clark Basketball Tourney

The home team showed a bit of "northern hospitality" by treating their opponents to lunch.

Over Memorial Day weekend, the AAU basketball "Beast of the East" Tournament was held at the Brewer Rec Center in Clark, hosted by the All-NJ Elite AAU basketball program based out of Clark.

The All-NJ Elite 12U girls played the Queen City Elite 13U girls from North Carolina. Both teams played hard and battled to the end, with the Queen City girls winning by 3.

After the game, sportsmanship prevailed: Clark Mayor and NJ Elite Head Coach Sal Bonaccorso treated the opponents to lunch.

"The All-NJ Elite philosophy is that it's more than winning or losing; it's about the life experiences along the way, such as meeting people from other states, sharing stories, creating memories," said Bonaccorso. "Sportmanship, friendship and committment – that's what it's all about."

Many of the girls shared email addresses, cell phone numbers and became Facebook friends.

"We look forward to playing Queen City again someday, some place, sometime," added Bonaccorso. "I am very proud of my All-NJ Elite girls for giving their all, both on the court and off."
