'The Sound of Music' to be Performed at Mother Seton

The 'halls' are alive with the sound of music on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Students from Mother Seton will be performing the The Sound of Music by Rodgers and Hammerstein.  

The Catholic high school continues its 50th anniversary celebration with the performance: The Sound of Music was the very first play performed at Mother Seton in March 1968.

Performances will be held on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

Carolyn Rodrigo, a junior from South Plainfield, will portray Maria Rainer and Dan Montealegre, from Cranford, will portray Captain Von Trapp.  Jocelyn Brown, a senior from East Orange is cast as the Mother Abbess.

The Captain’s children are cast as follows: Liesl, Emily Bledsoe, Linden; Friedrich, Tommy Meade, Clark; Louisa, Sara Dedinsky, Linden; Kurt, Patrick Joxt, Rahway; Brigitta, Alexandra Manacop, Edison; Marta, Kristel Baptiste, Rahway; Gretl, Gabriella Wetherell, Rahway. Diana White, a freshman from Garwood is cast as Sister Berthe. Senior Catherine Bialkowski, Clifton, portrays Sister Margaretta and senior Joanna Derisse, Irvington, is Sister Sophia. Senior Erin Alexander of Linden, portrays Frau Schmidt and Kenneth Marples, Elizabeth, is cast as Rolf Gruber. Aurora Starr, a sophomore from Linden, is cast as Elsa Schraeder and Bobby Morris, Cranford, has the role of Max Dietweiler. Freshman Barbara Fiedorowicz, Edison, is cast as Frau Zeller and Ryan Durkin, Clark, is cast as Herr Zeller. Noni Tinglin-Jarrett, Irvington, is Baron Elberfeld and Baroness Elberfeld is Alexa Salotti, Colonia. Franz, the Butler is Adrian Camano, Linden, Kandace Moore, West Orange, portrays Ursula, Alyssa Tolentino, Woodbridge, is the new postulant, and Ciara Ryan, Sewaren, as Admiral Von Schreiber.  Freshman, Victoria Gaspar, Avenel, is the Dancer at the festival, while Clara Dizon, Jessica McGuinness, South Plainfield, and Domenica Padron, Newark are the trio at the festival. The stage managers for the production are senior Terynn Mingo, Plainfield, Juniors, Sue Ellen Kushner, Linden and Carolina Guerreiro,  Metuchen.

Christine Danelson, a graduate of Mother Seton Regional High School, who portrayed the Mother Abbess in the 2004 production at Mother Seton, is the director of this year’s production. Danelson is also the musical director and choreographer of the show. 

This arts program is made possible in part by a HEART (History, Education, Arts Reaching Thousands) Grant from the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders.

Tickets are $8 for senior citizens and children (under 12). All other tickets are $10 each. For tickets, call 732-382-1952 between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
