Power Still Out at Valley Road School After Hurricane

Superintendent says power will be restored before first day of school on Sept. 6.

The power at Valley Road School has been out since Hurricane Irene hit Clark Saturday night.

Despite the lack of electricity, the staff has still been meeting at Arthur L. Johnson High School and the power is expected to be restored by the first day of school, said Superintendent of Schools Ken Knops.

Knops gave a report of the schools at Tuesday night's Board of Education meeting, where he said that the schools will be ready as soon as possible.

Carl H. Kumpf Middle School had minimal flooding in areas of the school. The water has been drained and the floors are in the process of being rewaxed, Knops said.

The staff has been working out of the middle school, though told to avoid certain areas until cleanup is finished.
