PHOTO: Hehnly K-Kids Send Valentines to Soldiers

K-Kids is a service club sponsored by Kiwanis.

This Valentine's Day, the Hehnly K-Kids are sending their love to our troops abroad.

Students in the K-Kids club (a service group sponsored by Kiwanis) made Valentine’s cards and wrote letters of appreciation for a group of United States soldiers. A Clark resident will hand deliver the cards to his troop, currently stationed in Afghanistan.

The K-Kids have been busy this year collecting $310 for UNICEF, received $262.80 for the clothing donations that were sent to needy countries, donated 10 turkeys and 10 boxes of food to the Clark Give and Share Program, donated $1,666.33 to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through their “Pennies for Patients” campaign, donated 15 boxes of new toys to support the sophomore class at ALJ’s Toys for Tots drive, donated K-5 literature books to replenish the library at Orange Avenue School in Cranford (still under construction due to the flood damage from Hurricane Irene), and held their second annual JOY Social (Joining Old and Young) with 85 K-Kids members and their special guests.   Hehnly School Nurse, Donna Kircher, is the K-Kids advisor.
