Mothers' Center Holds Open House in Garwood Today

Five things you need to know today, Wednesday, Sept. 28.

  1. The today from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the  The Mothers’ Center provides friendship, education, outreach and support for parents. The group's discussion and craft groups, book clubs, playgroups and special events are held at the Garwood Presbyterian Church. New members are always welcome. For information call 908-561-1751 or visit http://westfieldnj.com/mccnj.
  2. The will hold its first meeting tonight in the school’s cafeteria at 7 p.m. All parents and guardians of Valley Road School students are invited to attend. Babysitting will be provided for young children and refreshments will be served. Come hear about the PTA’s plans for the new school year.
  3. Become a singing star or show off your dart-throwing talent tonight at at 9 p.m. Chase away the hump day blues with a Dart Wars Tournament (cash prizes!), sing karaoke with DJ Fausto, and enjoy $5 burgers, bar pies, sangria and other drink specials.
  4. Enjoy the great outdoors? The invites adults to a free, enjoyable educational program that teaches about the nature and life of trees. Learn how trees grow and reproduce, how to plant them, their importance to the environment and ways to share this knowledge with children. Classes start today from noon to 2 p.m. and run weekly until Nov. 2 at the Rutgers Cooperative Extension offices in Westfield.   5. Parents and preschoolers: come to Garwood Library today for stories, music, movement and fun at the held every Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. Registration is not required.
