Johnson JV Girls Basketball Takes on Roselle Catholic in County Semifinals Tonight

The big game will take place at 6 p.m. at Rahway High School.

The Johnson JV girls basketball team is on a tear, heading into the county finals to face off against Roselle Catholic tonight at 6 p.m. at Rahway High School. If they win, the team will advance to the finals at Kean University on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Johnson is fresh off a big win last week when they upset Governor Livingston in the county quarterfinals. The GL team had already beaten Johnson twice during the regular season.

The game was a close one: After and aggressive first quarter, the score was 7 to 6 with GL in the lead, but the second quarter had GL scared with Johnson up 13 to 11. The third quarter was highlighted with a three-pointer from Johnson's Emily Bailey, keeping them in the lead. In the fourth, both teams were in foul trouble and fighting hard to come out with a win: two GL players had fouled out in the third quarter and, from Johnson, Christina Bonaccorso and Stephanie Donah also fouled out leaving the team with no bench. But the game belonged to Johnson in the end, with a final score of 39-28.
