Johnson Drama Department Presents Romeo and Juliet

The classic love story gets revamped at Arthur L. Johnson this week.

“A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life…” on the stage of Arthur L. Johnson High School in the Drama Department’s production of Romeo and Juliet. One of the greatest love stories ever told will premiere on the ALJ stage this week for only three performances.

Director Peter Nevargic, has taken the famed Shakespeare play and relocated it from Verona, Italy to Verona, New Jersey. It is modernized, revamped, at times uproarious, and given a “Jersey-licious” twist. Yet, Shakespeare’s words are still intact and tell the story of two impetuous teenagers who rebel against their parents to follow their passion to an untimely end—all in the name of love.
