Five Things You Need to Know Today, March 10

Kindergarten, coffee, basketball and more.

  1. Parents of 4 and 5-year olds, Frank K. Henley Elementary School in Clark is holding for the 2011-2012 school year today at 9 a.m.  Children who are Clark residents who will turn 5 years old by October 2011 are eligible to enroll.
  2. Coffee lovers, find out everything you ever wanted to know about your favorite beverage, including benefits to savor and pitfalls to avoid, by attending "" This free class offered by the Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Union County will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Extension offices in Westfield. There is no fee, but registration in advance is required.
  3. This afternoon at 4:30 the Clark Public Library will host “,” an informative author’s workshop by local residents, Dr. Hope Blecher-Sass and Ms. Maryellen Moffitt, as they share their collaborative approach to writing based upon firsthand experience as published authors.
  4. The ALJ History Club will host the tonight;  tipoff is at 7.  Come watch ALJ Students take the court against ALJ faculty and staff; root for your kids, classmates and favorite teachers!  Admission fee $5.
  5. Join fellow intellectuals tonight for dynamic conversation and stimulating debate at the JCC of Scotch Plains for the first of three focusing on topics of Jewish content and relevance.  Tonight’s workshop features Professor Monique Eckmann on the topic, "Young Right Wing in Europe and Worldwide: Which Response?”
