Clark Schools Dismissed Early Tomorrow Due to the Heat

Clark schools will have an early dismissal due to the anticipated heat tomorrow.

After a hot day in school today, district officials are announcing a half day for all Clark schools tomorrow, June 9. Each school will follow their early dismissal schedules.

Lunch will not be served and aftercare will still run until 6 p.m.

The National Weather Service is anticipating widespread haze after 11 a.m., with conditions sunny and hot and a high near 98. A heat advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. on Thursday for the following counties: Passaic, Hudson, Essex and Union.

Heat index values will be around 100 through early this evening and then once again Thursday afternoon into early evening. The hottest conditions are expected Thursday afternoon. The NWS advices to take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening, know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, wear light or loose fitting clothing, and drink plenty of water.
