Clark BOE Honors Advanced Placement Scholars

Seven ALJ grads were honored at the board's recent meeting.

A press release from the Clark Board of Education:

In what has become an annual tradition at the last Board of Education Meeting each July, the Clark Board of Education honored Advanced Placement Scholars at their Showcase of Success at the Board of Education Meeting of July 31.

Seven graduated students were honored by the Board of Education for achieving the status of “Advanced Placement Scholars With Distinction” by the National College Board.  To achieve this lofty status, a student must receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all their Advanced Placement Exams taken, receive scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.  Seven Arthur L. Johnson Class of 2012 graduates were honored with this distinction:  Mark Boulanger, Jeremy Corson, Nicole Imbriaco, Timothy Riddlestorffer, David Roglieri, Loretta Vill, and Lauren Walsh.

This designation is awarded to students who receive an average score of at least 4 on all Advanced Placement Exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams.

At the Board of Education Showcase of Success, the honorees were introduced and congratulated by Clark Superintendent of Schools Kenneth Knops, who explained to the televised meeting the criteria for achieving both AP Scholars with Distinction and National AP Scholars. Knops stated how proud the District was of these seven students and the national distinction they received.  He commended each child by stating, “Each of you are ambassadors representing yourselves, your families, Arthur L. Johnson High School, and the Clark School District in the finest of fashion, we are extremely proud of you and your accomplishments.”
