Clark BOE Appoints Elementary School Supervisor

Janeen Allmendinger comes from the Morris Plains district.

Janeen Allmendinger, an 11 year elementary school teaching veteran, was appointed to the position of Elementary School Supervisor with the Clark School District at the Board of Education Meeting of August 9.

Prior to joining the Clark School District, Allmendinger worked in the capacity of kindergarten, second grade, third grade, and special education teacher. For the past nine years, she has been employed by the Morris Plains School District. On six occasions Allmendinger was selected to present at the prestigious Curriculum Fair at the New Jersey School Boards Association Workshop in Atlantic City, and was awarded six grants through the Morris Plains Home and School Association. She has served as coordinator of the district’s Family Mathematics Program, chair of the Instructional Council, and Teacher in Charge of her school.

Allmendinger received her bachelors degree in Psychology and Education from Marist College and her masters degree in Reading and Educational Administration from Montclair State University. She holds certification as an elementary teacher, special education teacher, reading teacher, reading specialist, supervisor and principal.

The Clark Schools have historically had three supervisor positions, each designated to specific content areas and each assigned oversight of kindergarten through grade 12. With the resignation of a supervisor earlier this spring, Superintendent Kenneth Knops recommended realigning the oversight of the supervisors. Under the new alignment, two content area supervisors will oversee grades 6-12, and a third supervisor will have oversight of the elementary education curriculum in grades K-5. Knops commented that with approximately 1,000 students in the district’s two K-5 Elementary Schools, it would be the best use of supervisory resources to designate a supervisor to the elementary education program, an individual with experience and expertise in teaching the elementary grades.

“I’m excited at the prospect of Mrs. Allmendinger joining our educational community," Knops said. "She possesses a good deal of energy, enthusiasm, creativity, and innovation, and she has an impressive track record of success in a variety of elementary grade levels. She will spend her time between our two elementary schools, Frank K. Hehnly School and Valley Road School, where she will be both a resource and support to our teaching staff.”
