Arthur L. Johnson High School has started a student Book Club. Media Specialist Kate Ryan and English Teacher Regina Rufrano are co-advisors for the club, which meets after school.
“During our meetings we discuss literature, share book recommendations, and explore new genres. Our mission is to help each member grow as a reader in a relaxed and accepting environment. We read a different book every month ranging from young adult literature, to non-fiction, to graphic novels, and more” said Ryan.

In November, the club read recent novel If I Stay by Gayle Forman which was named a “Teens’ Top Ten” by the Young Adult Library Services Association in 2010. Ms. Ryan hopes that the book club continues to attract members with varying interests so students can learn from each other and read great literature they might not be exposed to in the classroom.
