This press release was submitted by the Clark School District.
This spring, the Arthur L. Johnson weight-room received a much needed update as student Samantha Ring graciously volunteered her time and skillfulness by updating and beautifying the weight-room walls with paintings and motivational quotes.
"Art is my passion. When I was participating in the Ironworkers and using the weight room for training, I felt the room needed something inspirational on the walls. I brainstormed with Mr. Del Conte, and came up with this mural for the wall, using the school mascot as the subject. My friend, Mrs. Del Conte, helped me through the process. When students use the weight-room after I have graduated, I hope they will be inspired by my artwork to be the best they can be."
Christopher Marcin, who is an established Teacher of Art and Graphic Design at Arthur L. Johnson High School, along with being the Head Winter and Spring Track and Field Coach, said the following about the act of generosity: "Samantha did a great job. I love seeing my students create art work throughout the school. It really brings a sense of school pride."
Gus Kalikas, Supervisor of Athletics, Health, and Physical Education at the Clark School District had this to say about the endeavor: “Samantha kindly donated her time and effort in order to help the Crusader Athletic Family. It was a wonderful act of selflessness that Samantha has shown which speaks to her great character and devotion to the Arthur L. Johnson Crusader school culture. The Crusader weight-room, and all of Arthur L. Johnson High School, is a better place because of her.”
