ALJ Celebrates School Spirit Week

Can you recognize the outfit inspiration for these ALJ teachers?

This release was submitted by ALJ High School.

Earlier this week, Arthur L. Johnson High School celebrated School Spirit Week. Spirit week is a common event in high schools and other secondary institutions to promote school pride. Common events include a pep rally and other special school activities. The week usually concludes with an interscholastic athletic competition.

Student Council advisors Melissa Sim and Regina Rufrano along with Arthur L. Johnson High School student members hosted a series of themed days where students and teachers were encouraged to dress up in representation of an established theme.

Arthur L. Johnson High School’s Spirit Week was organized by the following themes:  “Mustache Monday”, “Flannel Tuesday”, “Winter White Wednesday”, “Throwback Thursday” and “Holiday Spirit Friday”.

The following pictured teachers actively participated in making “Throwback Thursday” a spirited success: (Pictured from left to right) Mr. Fredy Reyes (Social Studies-Representing the quintessential 1890’s Victorian Gentleman), Mrs. Victoria Marchetta (Social Studies-Representing the glamorous and retro 1950’s decade Woman in her vintage attire), Mrs. Melissa Sim (Social Studies and Student Council Advisor-Representing the 1990’s sporty decade style with her Varsity Jacket), and Mr. Frank Wagenblast (Psychology Teacher-Representing the 1990’s sporty decade style with the Miami Heat Basketball Jersey).
