A New Jersey State Trooper assigned to Chris Christie's protective detail was arrested last month for allegedly stealing more than $250 worth of ammunition from a Pennsylvania store and apparently tried to use his connection to the governor to get out of the charges.

Trooper William A. Carvounis, 35, was accused of stealing $267 worth of ammunition from a sporting goods store on Jan. 8 in Tilden, Pa., about 30 miles west of Allentown, according to NorthJersey.com.

Charles Sciarra, an attorney for Carvounis, said his client denies the shoplifting charge and denies using his position to get out of the charge, the article said. The New Jersey State Police suspended Carvounis when they learned of the charges, Sciarra told NorthJersey.com.

Not sure why there is a picture of Christie instead of the NJ State Trooper?
Mac February 04, 2014 at 09:43 AM
@Tom - Mary Pat is standing where the trooper normally stood (at full trooper pay for sure.) And why not? As the sign says, this is just another low point for the Governor's staff. But the trooper does have a valid defense. His mind was completely numbed by having to guard Governor Christie through toooooooo many repetitious town hall showcases.

Just another jack boot thug

Tom, they have Christie’s picture there because it’s open season on Christie in the press. Bridge Gate started a two year campaign to keep him from the White House. Anything bad in Jersey will have his picture in the lead. Anything good, they will somehow link it to Hillery, no matter how remotely.

Rich, you are quite the optimist. Imagine something politically good in NJ not being associated with the woman the President didn't have sex with.

Scondo, Perhaps he too is getting ready for the Maobama administrative takeover of all civilian freedoms and wants his family to be able to protect themselves !

Here's a better one for you folks, Fired Redflex salesman Aaron Rosenberg claimed he was forced to cover long-standing practices of “providing government officials with lavish gifts and bribes.” His lawsuit states that during his tenure Redflex “bestowed gifts and bribes on municipal officials in dozens of municipalities within, New Jersey. Woodbridge is on the list.

Dis ban the state police and make them a Highway Patrol.
Mac February 05, 2014 at 11:01 AM
@WMS826 - if the state police are disbanded, then the county sheriffs would become the supreme law enforcement in each county and the highway patrol would work under each one of these individual political kneejerks - sorry but we need real men and women running our state law enforcement, not yesterday's has-beens who can't stand up straight
