The Week Ahead: Garwood's NJ Transit Meeting, Clark Planning Board Debates Miele's Townhome Application

What's going on in Clark and Garwood the week of Feb. 27.

The Garwood Library is hosting Yoga Sutra for Wellness on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. Gulsum Gulee, a local yoga therapist, will demonstrate. Participants are asked to dress comfortably and bring a mat if you have one.  As ample floor space is required, registration is limited to 15 participants. Garwood will also hold a special meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 29, where NJ Transit will present the results of their feasibility study regarding the borough's Transit Village possibilities.

The Clark Planning Board will hold another meeting to discuss the Miele's townhouse application on Thursday, March 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Brewer Building Cafeteria at 430 Westfield Avenue.

On Thursday, March 1 at 7 p.m. at Garwood P.B.A hosts a benefit show for Marine Cpl. Greg Caron a friend to Local 117 who was seriously injured by an IED while serving in Afghanistan. Caron lost both of his legs, a finger and broke his collarbone. The Garwood P.B.A. Civic Association is hosting a benefit to help assist the Caron family during this time. Some of the proceeds will help alleviate the cost of day to day bills, having a handicap ramp installed at his home and other financial burdens. The $45 ticket includes food, open bar and live music.

The Jersey Central Railway Historical Society will sponsor its annual Train Show and Sale, at the on Sunday, March 4 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 pm. Admission to the day long event is $5 per adult, children under 12 free, maximum family admission is $10. The train show is one of the biggest shows in the Northeast and differs from other train shows which strictly focus on model trains. This show, which consists of more than 130 tables of merchandise for sale and displays, combines both model trains, from the small N Gauge to the larger G Gauge sizes and railroadiana.

On Sunday, March 4, the Clark Library is hosting Laughter Yoga, a combination of laughter and yoga breathing exercises. This event will take place at 2 p.m. and registration is required. Join certified yoga instructor, Sharon Waldman and learn how Laughter Yoga can enhance your quality of life. For more information and to register, call 732-388-5999. All are welcome.
