Outdoor Movie Night: "Kung Fu Panda" in Warinanco Park

Five things you need to know today, Tuesday, July 26.

UPDATE: There is no council meeting in Garwood tonight. The meeting was canceled.

  1. Union County’s summer outdoor fun continues tonight at Warinanco Park in Elizabeth. Bring the family at 7:30 p.m. to learn about the ancient art of Kung Fu. Then sit back at dusk and watch as a clumsy panda bear becomes an unlikely hero in the animated film, “Kung Fu Panda.” Bring a blanket or chairs, or look for a spot on the bleachers.
  2. Westfield’s continues tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. Performers this week include Watson, Eric Mintel Quartet, B.D. Lenz and Scarlett Lee Moore. In case of rain, performances will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, July 27. The Jazz Festival, which takes place outdoors at various places around downtown Westfield, is free and open to all.
  3. CANCELED- Garwood’s Mayor and Council will convene for a tonight at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers located at 403 South Avenue in Garwood. All are invited to attend public meetings of the mayor and council. The meeting agenda can be found online prior to the meeting at Garwood.org/mc_agenda.htm.
  4. continues today with a decoupage craft at 3 p.m. for children entering Grade 2 and older. All are welcome; advance registration online or by phone is required.
  5. Parents, satisfy your children’s natural curiosity about nature by registering them for “,” tonight’s Tuesday Evening Family Program at Trailside Nature & Science Center. Children ages 6 and up and their adult companions will learn about nocturnal animals and creatures and enjoy a walk listening to the sights and sounds of a summer evening at 8 p.m. Registration is required. Fee is $6 per person.
