Outdoor Movie Night: "Finding Nemo" in Meisel Park

Five things you need to know today, Tuesday, August 9.

  1. Union County’s Family Fun & Flix summer series continues at Meisel Park in Springfield at 7:30 p.m. tonight with a fun fishy craft project for kids, followed by a free screening of the children’s animated Disney/Pixar feature film, “” at dusk. Bring your popcorn and lawn chair.
  2.  will meet tonight for their August meeting at 7 p.m. at the Garwood Municipal Building in Council Chambers. The public is welcome to attend. 
  3. RWJ University Hospital invites Union County’s First Responders to a tonight at 7 p.m. at the RWJ Rahway Fitness & Wellness Center in Scotch Plains. Registered Dietitian Diane Weeks will show first responders how to pack nutrition into their fast-paced lives by demonstrating quick, nutritious meals that can be eaten on the go. The cooking demo includes samples, recipes and a free dinner. The program is open to Union County EMTs, paramedics, police and other first responders. To R.S.V.P., call 732-499-6193.
  4. Clark Library presents “,” a creative, educational children’s art program for children entering grades 1 through 6 with Artist Peri today from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. Learn about the amazing Italian artist, Michelangelo, then learn a few fun Italian phrases. Children will create their own masterpieces to take home. All materials for this free program will be supplied. To register, call 732-388-5999.
  5. There will be a weekly meeting of tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Prayer & Praise Fellowship Church located at 2 Denman Avenue in Clark. The group’s free weekly meetings have defined topics of discussion. All are welcome. Please enter via the side basement entrance.
