No Tolerance on Underage Drinking Parties, Mayor Says

Mayor Bonaccorso referenced the recent arrest of seven Clark teens for a wild house party in Seaside Park.

Mayor Sal Bonaccorso says the Clark Police Department has his full support to arrest any residents hosting underage drinking parties as graduation approaches this week.

"Parents, it's not my business to pass judgement on what you choose to do, but what is my business is the laws in town that we will fully enforce," said Bonaccorso at Monday night's Clark council meeting. "If you are found hosting an underage drinking party you will be arrested and charged."

Bonaccorso also referenced the recent arrest of seven Clark teens after a bust over Memorial Day weekend for having a loud house party that featured 13 kegs, 20 cases of beer, a large quantity of marijuana and ecstasy and about 70 guests at a Seaside Park home.

"It wasn't an embarrassment to me or our community," Bonaccorso said of the arrests. "That’s on you and on your family. But we don’t want to see that going on."

Bonaccorso spoke about how in the '70s and '80s, drunk driving fatalities at graduation time in Clark were a regular occurrence.

"We've been successful in recent years with avoiding any fatalities," said Bonaccorso. "Let's have a joyous graduation season."
