National Weather Service Issues Heat Advisory Today

Five things you need to know today, Wednesday, June 8.

  1. Stay hydrated!  The first official heat wave of the year has begun.  Dangerously high temperatures and high humidity will continue to build through tomorrow. Today’s highs will reach the mid 90s and tomorrow’s will flirt with record highs near 100 degrees. High humidity compounds the heat. Limit exertion outdoors, drink lots of water, don’t leave kids or pets in a car – even for a few minutes – and check in on elderly neighbors to make sure they're staying cool. 
  2. During the month of June, the Clark “ is looking for donations of health and beauty items, including soap, deodorant, lotion, hair brushes, combs, tooth brushes, tooth paste, mouthwash, etc.  Items can be donated any weekday at the Clark Municipal Building, Room 18, between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. 
  3. “,” a Trailside Nature & Science Center family program will take place tonight at 7 p.m.  Children 6 and older learn to identify night singing amphibians  including spring peepers, frogs and toads. Indoor presentation precedes an outdoor wetland exploration. Pre-registration is required. Call 908-789-3670.
  4. RWJ Rahway Fitness & Wellness Center presents “," a free health seminar by Anu Chaudry, MD and Nephrologist tonight  at 6 p.m.  The Community Health Education seminar is free and open to the public. To register, call 732-499-6193.
  5. The gathers today at the Polish Cultural Foundation from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  The club welcomes guests every Wednesday, September to June, to socialize, join in the activities, enjoy refreshments and learn about planned events and trips.
