Five Things You Need to Know Today, Wednesday, September 14

  1. Union County launches its at Oak Ridge Park in Clark today, beginning a five-day celebration of great, free outdoor music combined with all the fun and flair of a traditional county fair and carnival. Over 20 favorite amusement rides including an 80-foot Ferris wheel will thrill people of all ages at the County Fair, plus a midway filled with games, music and activities will add to the excitement. Live band performances kick off on The Crossroads stage tonight with the students of Cranford Guitar and Music Center of Garwood at 5:15 p.m., Doomsday Diaries at 6:30 p.m., Nikki Briar at 7:45 p.m. and b.Funk at 9. Recall the days of Doo Wop as Classic Urban Harmony takes you on a musical journey at “,” today at the Garwood Library at 7 p.m. Music historian Charlie Horner shares forty years of research and twenty years on Philadelphia’s WXPN-FM with memories and personal stories as well as a huge archive of records, photographs and other memorabilia. Registration is required for this free event.

The today at Ehrhart Gardens located at 100 Francis Court in Union from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The program helps seniors refresh driving skills, learn current rules, defensive driving techniques and how to operate vehicles more safely, as well as adjustments to accommodate common age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time.
