The Borough of Garwood is already engaged in preemptive Emergency Management measures to protect lives and property. Chief Underhill and Captain Pipala attended a meeting this morning with the Union County Office of Emergency Management to coordinate a plan to deal with eventualities as they may arise.

I wish to assure all residents and businesses that the Borough will be doing everything possible to assist in this emergency and protect lives and property.

Residents should prepare by stocking up on essentials at home and avoid any non essential or unnecessary travel. Outside furniture should be secured. All shrubbery and limbs left at curbside should be removed from curbside and placed on private lawns and property. In a storm loose items are carried in the storm water to the basins and will clog the system which contributes to flooding.Of course I encourage the use of 911 for all emergencies; however you may contact our Police Department for non-emergency matters at 908-789-1500, 24 hours a day.

I encourage everyone to remain calm, and be prepared. I am confident we have measures in place to ensure the safety of the public. I wish to take this opportunity to thank all our dedicated Fire, First Aid and OEM Volunteers and our Police Department for their professional dedication to our Borough and citizens.

Thank you.
Patricia Quattrocchi, Mayor
Borough of Garwood
