Garwood GOP Nominates Blaufeder, Martin For 2013 Council Election

Blaufeder was recently tapped to fill a vacancy on council left by the resignation of Victor DeFilippo. Martin ran in last year's election.

John Quattrocchi, Chairman of the Garwood Republican Committee, has officially announced that Steven Blaufeder and Michael Martin will be the party’s official candidates for two Garwood Borough Council seats.

Filing their petitions well before the April 1st deadline to appear on the ballot for the June Primary Election the candidates also have been awarded the backing of the Union County Republican Committee and use of the slogan “Regular Organization Republican of Union County”.

Councilman Steve Blaufeder and Mike Martin are small business owners. Blaufeder was recently tapped to fill a vacancy on the Garwood Borough Council left by the resignation of Victor DeFilippo who stepped down because of changes in the demands of his employment. A lifelong Union County resident he owns and operates an import/export business in Berkeley Heights.

Martin, a former sales and marketing executive with AT&T is the proprietor of a Garwood based special events and marketing firm and also hails from central Union County.

Blaufeder and Martin are pleased that the mayor is promoting the growth of the Chamber of Commerce in Garwood and support the mayor’s initiative to bring new business and redevelop underutilized/vacant sites in the borough. They also are excited about the administration’s efforts to utilize multiple avenues to enhance communications with the borough residents.  

“We are confident that our candidates will capture the votes necessary to appear on the Republican party line with Gov. Chris Christie in the November General Election”, said Quattrocchi.
