Garwood Council Approves Athletic Field Complex Bond Ordinance

With funding in place, the project can be awarded at council's September meeting.

A standing-room-only crowd turned out once again at Borough Hall Tuesday night as council voted five to one to approve a bond ordinance that will provide funding for the borough’s long-planned Athletic Field Complex.

Now approved, Garwood is one step closer to beginning construction on the project that is now more than 10 years in the making. The borough can award the project at council's September meeting, the final step before it is to be built.

Check back later today for our full story on last night's meeting.

Garwood Councilmen need to listen to what people say and disallow this to happen. Otherwise do not expect to be re-elected, ever. What are the benefits of spending 3.2 Million??? An additional soccer field? There's already 2 fields at Unami park, why do we need another one within 10 minutes walk? A fancy basketball court?, we all know what kind of demographic that will invite into our neighborhood. Cons: Higher taxes for everyone in the town, debt will increase even more. Councll, listen to the people and serve them. You should be ashamed of yourself for taking bribes, obviously on this issue, as I have no other explanation why you would approve such a thing. Majority of people in Garwood vote NO! Listen to us, please.

... and what about all of those 100 year old trees that will have to be cut down to make room for the soccer field? Is the environmental factor even being considered when making this decision? Let the people VOTE, stop representing your own interests only and do the job that you were hired to do. LISTEN!
