Friday Sandy Update from Mayor Bonaccorso

Dear Residents:

Mayor Sal just wanted to send out a message to let you know the latest information that we have on power restoration in Clark Township. The Mayor participates in a conference call with PSE&G and other affected municipalities every morning receiving daily status on the situation. His persistence has resulted in a PSE&G team from Missouri and Illinois that are here today to address issues in Clark Township. They consist of staff from PSE&G as well as tree companies to help pull trees and branches off the lines.

The general situation is as follows:

• We have been told that the switching station in Sewaren, which feeds some of the substations that energize Clark, was flooded. They are expecting to have that up and running by sometime today.

• The local substations that energize Clark are expected to be up within a few days. If you see surrounding streets with power and yours is still out, it could be that a transformer or wire was knocked out by a falling tree and just affecting your street and/or that you are on a different substation.

• PSE&G’s focus is on the substations first; then hospitals, police and fire stations, schools, etc. Transformers and/or downed wires will be addressed as soon as possible. The teams that are here today will do their best to get the power back for the majority of residents.

Please remember that as substations get energized, wires that were previously dead are now live. STAY AWAY FROM ANY DOWNED WIRES AND WAIT FOR THE PROFESSIONALS!!
