'Clark Commons' Shopping Complex Approved, Will Open in 2015

The plan for the 241,000-square-foot complex would include 15 retail spaces and three restaurants housed in seven buildings on the 28-acre site.

The Clark Planning Board unanimously approved the proposed Clark Commons shopping complex for the former U.S. Gypsum property on Raritan Road and Walnut Avenue Thursday night.

The plan for the 241,000-square-foot complex would include 15 retail spaces and three restaurants housed in seven buildings on the 28-acre site. The plan also includes a detention basin that will look like a pond and provide a gathering place with benches and a gazebo on the corner of Raritan Road and Walnut Avenue.

Thursday night's testimony was focused on the traffic impact of the project and the extensive area roadway improvements the developer will undertake. Check back for our full story on last night's meeting.

Developer William Krame told Patch he hopes to begin construction in December and open the complex in the summer of 2015.
