Clark and Garwood Libraries to Resume Saturday Hours

Five things you need to know today, Friday, Sept.. 9.

  1. Now that the summer season is winding down and kids are back to school, the and will once again be opening for Saturday hours beginning tomorrow, September 10. The Garwood Library will be open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Clark Library will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  2. The Garwood Lions Club invites all Garwood senior citizens to attend the annual tomorrow, Saturday, September 10. The picnic will be held at noon at the Garwood Knights of Columbus Hall located on South Avenue near Willow Avenue, rain or shine. Picnic food, beverages and music for dancing will be provided. Admission is free to all seniors. Call 908-654-4977 for information.
  3. Join the Deutscher Club for a weekend of entertainment at tomorrow, Saturday, September 10, from 5 to 11 p.m., featuring Bernie's Orchestra, and Sunday, September 11, from noon to 6 p.m., featuring "Spitze!" This traditional German Oktoberfest, open to the public, will satisfy your appetite, quench your thirst and provide hours of entertainment, traditional dancing and music in the true German Oktoberfest spirit. Rain or shine. Admission $5; under 12 free.
  4. Today is the first day of school for freshmen and sophomores only. School begins at 8 a.m. A freshmen orientation program and Big Sister/Little Sister Welcome Lunch takes place at the school today at noon. Early dismissal will be at 1:45 p.m.
  5. Tonight at 7 p.m. Union County wraps up its “” summer outdoor film series at Warinanco Park. Families can make a fishy craft project before watching the children’s animated feature film, “Finding Nemo” about a young fish who loses his way and his father’s epic journey to bring him home. This is the last county outdoor movie this season Bring a blanket or beach chair or find a seat in the bleachers and enjoy the last of this summer's Family Fun & Flix events.
