Other facts

"I have been a Garwood resident since 1996. I immediately got involved in town running for the Board of Education. I served seven years on the board, two as President. I am proud to say the year I was president we had a successful referendum for a new addition to Lincoln School and extensive renovations for the building that remained. My children Ryan and Sarah attended Lincoln/Franklin Schools in Garwood and went on to graduate from ALJ in Clark. Ryan now attends Rutgers University while Sarah attends Kean University. While my children were in school I took leadership roles in Garwood PTA, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts as well as any other parent volunteering the school needed. Also I served as a member on the Education Foundation of Garwood. I am a proud member of this community and would like to see it thrive. I am a homeowner in Garwood and have planted my roots here with my children and my fiancé, Paul Tarantino. I have a vested interest in seeing this community prosper. My running mate, Bill Nierstedt and I would like to see the Transit Village project continue with momentum. We believe this project will help improve areas along the North and South Avenue corridor. We also believe that sincere communication with all the residents is key and we will be open and honest as we strive to earn your trust. Bill and I began walking door to door in early September and we have knocked on nearly every home. It has been interesting meeting so many residents and hearing their concerns.
