Almost Queen Rocks Oak Ridge Tonight

Five things you need to know today, Wednesday, August 17.

  1. Enjoy the echoes of summer at Oak Ridge Park in Clark tonight at another Union County Summer Concert series event. Almost Queen blends the vocal layering and precision signature of Queen, with the energy and spectacle of a live Queen concert. All are invited to bring a blanket, lawn chair and picnic basket and enjoy a free night of great music under the stars.
  2. Trailside Nature and Science Center’s summer Wednesday Matinee Series wraps up today at 1:30 p.m. with a show that is sure to astound, baffle and thrill. Joe Fischer, magician extraordinaire, performs a fast-paced show with the perfect blend of magic, comedy, audience participation and excitement. Tickets go on sale at Trailside at 1 p.m. Admission is $4 per person.
  3. Adults are invited to join a naturalist on a walk through the Watchung Reservation to experience the sights and sounds of a summer evening, then return to Trailside Nature and Science Center’s Visitor Center for a relaxing guided meditation session at the program tonight from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. To pre-register call 908-789-3670.
  4. Come hear what upcoming events Garwood has planned for residents and share your ideas at the meeting tonight at 7 p.m. The Garwood Celebrations Committee meets the third Wednesday of every month in the Garwood Municipal building. 
  5. is now accepting registrations for SAT prep classes to be held Saturday mornings starting Sept. 17 in Math and Verbal/Reading/Writing. Each section costs $195 including books—a significant savings over other popular test prep programs. These classes will prepare students to take the SAT in November and December.
