The Garwood Blotter: Garwood Man Gets DWI After Crashing His Car, Trying to Leave the Scene

The following arrest information was provided by the Garwood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

DWI

Sept. 25, 2:28 a.m. – Officer Chudy performed a motor vehicle stop in the 400 block of South Avenue. Upon his investigation the driver, Ray Bailey, 20, from Clark was arrested and charged with underage consumption of an alcoholic beverage, driving without headlights, failure to keep right, tailgating, failure to signal, careless driving, having an open container of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle and driving while intoxicated. Bailey was released with a pending court date.

Sept. 30, 6:24 p.m. – While investigating a motor vehicle crash in the 200 block of Center Street, Officer Eriksen arrested Frank Erickson, 35, from Westfield and charged him for no insurance card in possession, obstructed view, no seatbelt, failure to observe a traffic signal, careless driving and driving while intoxicated. Erickson was released with a pending court date.

Oct. 6, 3:06 a.m. – Officer Herz was dispatched to the 100 block of Willow Avenue on a report from a resident that he had just heard what sounded like a motor vehicle crash. While checking the area Herz found a vehicle attempting to back away from the area but due to crash damage it was unable to do so. Upon further investigation the driver Dennis Clark, 64, from Garwood was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, careless driving, driving while intoxicated and refusing to give a breath sample. Clark was released with a pending court date.

Stolen Car

Oct. 3, 11:02 p.m. – Officer Herz arrested Lori Shibla, 23, of Garwood in the 400 block of Willow Avenue for possession of stolen property after the car she was driving was reported stolen. Shibla was released after posting $2,500 bail.

Possession

Sept. 17, 11:10 a.m. – Officer Suggs performed a motor vehicle stop in the 200 block of South Avenue. Upon his investigation the driver, William Demars, 50, from Cranford was arrested and charged with use of a cell phone without a hands free device,  failure to inspect, obstructed view, unclear plates, possession of CDS (controlled dangerous substances) and possession of CDS in a motor vehicle. Demars was released with a pending court date.

Oct. 3, 7:32 p.m. – Officer Chudy performed a motor vehicle stop in the 300 block of North Avenue. Upon his investigation the driver, Eric Graham, 20, from Woodbridge, was arrested and charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of CDS (controlled dangerous substances) and unclear plates. The passenger, Hamilton Webster, 27, from Garwood was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of CDS. Graham was released after posting $5,000 bail. Webster was released after posting $7,500 in bail.
