Rahway Man Convicted for 2011 Armed Robbery of Clark Rite Aid

A Rahway man was convicted yesterday for 1st Degree Armed Robbery and related weapon charges in the 2011 armed robbery of the Clark Rite Aid on Central Avenue and Raritan Road, announced Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow.

Michael Giuliano, 32, was arrested on Feb. 2, 2011, shortly after the robbery. According to Assistant Prosecutor Brent A. Bramnick, who prosecuted the case, Giuliano entered the store dressed in dark clothing, with his face covered, and preceded to the pharmacy counter where he brandished a knife and demanded narcotics from employees. Giuliano then filled a garbage bag full of various medications and fled the store.

A Good Samaritan, who was standing at the entrance to the store, called 911 and followed Giuliano from the store and for several blocks until police arrived, said Bramnick. The Good Samaritan, a truck driver from Clark, pointed out the suspect to officers and Giuliano was arrested.

Giuliano faces up to 20 years in State Prison when he is sentenced in April before Judge Frederic R. McDaniel.
