Port Authority of NY-NJ Warns of E-ZPass Email Scam

Customers have been receiving emails which tell them to download an invoice and square off fabricated debts.

The Port Authority is cautioning E-ZPass customers about a phishing email scam.

Customers have been receiving emails which state, "You have not paid for driving on a toll road. . . . please service your debt in the shortest possible time." It then includes a downloadable invoice.

According to statement from the Port Authority, "The E-ZPass Service Center does not send out email invoices for payment." They add that the invoice would be sent through the mail. They advise recipients of such emails to delete them and not to download anything.

There have been no reports yet of who is behind the scam.

I think we should be more worried about the scam the PA is pulling on us every day with their tolls and let's not forget the kickbacks going to Christie and pals. Follow the money!

The real scam is not the email, but that we are all paying taxes on roads that were "paid" off years ago...
