At least 15 Newtown-like incidents have occurred between the Sandy Hook massacre and the latest shooting in Oregon, according to CNN.

In the December 2012 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Ct., 20 children and six adults were shot to death. This past week, a teenager fatally shot a classmate at an Oregon high school after arriving at his high school east of Portland heavily armed, according to CBS News.

Great posting Jen. You hit the nail on the head. It is kind of a catch 22 situation. The media should not be muzzled, but should police itself and remove the 15 minutes of fame status from the stories. This behavior developed since Columbine and is at extreme levels now.

It is a catch 22, I think some if the reporting helps educate people on warning signs to look for, but the sensational side if it only encourages those looking for fame.

When seconds count , police are only minutes away ! On site security has and will continue to save lives , but only where common sense is tolerated. The four inch revolver pictured is a fine choice for defense. Gramps carried one for 20 years, no complaints.

Metal detectors should be in all schools. They never show how well those detectors work because that would mean putting money into something that will protect your children. They definitely work. Every parent should want this in their schools but the school wont tell you this because it will cost some money and they prefer to pay there stupid administrators triple digits than protect your kids. (yes teachers should want this too but they won't go against administrators). In Long Island I saw these things work 3 times in the 5 months I lived there. Hell with legislation, save our kids now.

The schools are not safe, just like any gun free zone. Remember the bad guy's are bad guy's because they don't obey the law. Metal detectors are useless, because if they walk in with a gun who is going to stop them??? Metal Detectors may have stopped the kid with the pocket knife, but wouldn't do a thing if the kid came in with a Shotgun with the intent to do some damage. If the doors are locked, most of the schools have glass at street level. Pop-Pop, and they are in. The sheeple are so against people protecting themselves, they will do anything to allow it to happen with feel good solutions. The only thing that will stop a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun. Gun Free Zones are like shooting fish in a barrel, they don't have to worry about being stopped.
