Garwood Residents Must Remove Cars From Streets, Police Say

Borough ordinance stipulates that vehicles must be removed from roadways when snow accumulation reaches three inches.

Garwood Police are reminding residents that all vehicles must be removed from borough roadways when snow accumulation reaches three inches to make way for snow plows.

The department has sent out several Nixle alerts, including the latest message:

"The snow is falling fast. Please remove your vehicles from municipal roadways and lots in Garwood before the accumulation reaches 3 inches by Local Ordinance 21-6."

Police are also asking residents not to park in any municipal lots.

So if you don't have a driveway or lawn, you're screwed. Wonder what they do during the week, when out of towners park in Garwood for free to catch the bus or train to NY. They probably wouldn't know and would get ticketed. So what's a Nixle?

Hi John - Here is some more info on Nixle: The Nixle System will forward emergency information either by text message or by email to residents who register for the service. This system is free of charge. There are two ways to register: 1. From any cell phone, text the zip code (07027) to 888777. In this way, you will receive text messages only. 2. Go to www.nixle.com and register. You must enter a valid email address with the option of entering a cell phone as well. If you choose this method, you will receive information via email and/or text message.
